Definitions of the terms Lumo works with day to day — each technical term followed by a plain-spoken explanation anyone can follow.

HRV

The variation in time between consecutive heartbeats. A healthy heart is not metronomic — it fluctuates with breathing, posture, and stress. Lumo reads regulation from this fluctuation.

R-R 間隔

The time between two consecutive R-peaks of the heartbeat. The raw input from which HRV (and Lumo Regulation Score) is computed; derivable from Apple Watch, Polar, and similar wearables.

SDNN

Standard deviation of all R-R intervals over a measurement window. A summary metric of total HRV magnitude, reflecting overall autonomic activity.

RMSSD

Root mean square of differences between successive R-R intervals. A short-term variability index commonly used as a marker of parasympathetic (rest-and-recover) activity.

LF / HF

The ratio of low- to high-frequency power in HRV spectral analysis. Often used as a balance indicator between sympathetic and parasympathetic activity (interpretation is context-dependent).

DFA-α1

A nonlinear measure capturing the self-similar (fractal) structure of HRV over short scales. Represents the "quality" of regulation — how rhythmically organized the body is.

自律神経

The part of the nervous system controlling functions outside conscious thought — heart rate, breathing, digestion. Comprises sympathetic (activation) and parasympathetic (recovery) branches; their balance is what we observe as 'regulation.'

調律 / Regulation

The capacity of the autonomic nervous system to switch appropriately and bring the body into balance. The core concept of Lumo — we measure regulation, not emotion.

Lumo Regulation Score

A 0–100 score built mainly on SDNN and HF_norm (normalized high-frequency power). Lower values indicate dysregulation; higher values indicate attunement. The central metric of Feelmo.

こころの調律度

Feelmo's consumer-facing name for the same Regulation Score, translated into gentle, observational language: 'settled' vs. 'fluctuating.'
